Technology reviews & practical guides
Perimeter 81 is now Check Point SASE. What the business VPN and ZTNA platform offers in 2026, the old $8-$16 per user prices, what AWS lists today, and the CVE to patch.

If you type perimeter81.com into a browser in October 2026, you never see Perimeter 81. The domain sends you straight to sase.checkpoint.com, where the same product is sold as Check Point SASE, a name it reached after a stop as Harmony SASE. The pricing page, the self-serve checkout and the 30-day money-back guarantee that made Perimeter 81 an easy pick for small IT teams are all gone.
This review is for the buyer who still has Perimeter 81 on a shortlist. It covers what the platform does today, what it used to cost, the only price that is still public, what changed about trials and refunds, and the Windows agent vulnerability Check Point fixed in January 2026.
Check Point Software announced a definitive agreement to buy Perimeter 81 on August 10, 2023, for approximately $490 million on a cash free, debt free basis. The deal closed on September 13, 2023. At that point Perimeter 81 had a team of over 200 employees serving more than 3,000 customers worldwide, and Check Point said it would combine the product with Atmosec inside its Infinity architecture to deliver a complete SASE offering.
The brand did not survive the move. Today every old address redirects:
The naming is a little messy. Check Point's own product page calls it "Check Point SASE Platform (Formerly Harmony SASE)", while sase.checkpoint.com describes it as "Check Point SASE (Formerly Perimeter 81)". In practice they are one product, and screenshots from Check Point's site still carry Harmony SASE branding.

Perimeter 81 started as a cloud-hosted business VPN with dedicated gateways and static IPs. Check Point SASE keeps that core and wraps a much larger security stack around it. The current product menu lists:
Check Point markets it as "10x faster internet security, full-mesh Zero Trust Access, CASB, and optimized SD-WAN". The homepage and the AWS listing both claim 85+ points of presence. An older Perimeter 81 FAQ quoted over 40 locations for dedicated gateways, which is a different and narrower figure, so do not read the two as a contradiction.
The last published Perimeter 81 feature table (2025) listed the things most teams buy a business VPN for: WireGuard protocol, dedicated static IP, split tunneling, private DNS, unlimited network tunnels, single sign-on, SCIM support, two-factor authentication and device posture checks. A customer quote on the current homepage says the client "works across Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS".

The site states "Certified SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR, CCPA and ISO 27001 Compliant", and its menu also points to ISO 27002, HIPAA and CIS Controls material. Check Point's page cites a leader position in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Hybrid Mesh Firewalls and in the Forrester Wave for Zero Trust Platforms, Q3 2023. Note that the Gartner placement is for firewalls, not for SASE.
This is the biggest change for anyone who remembers Perimeter 81. It used to publish per-user prices you could pay by card. Check Point SASE publishes none: the calls to action are "Book a Demo" and "Start Now", and both lead into a sales conversation. We found no free trial.
The Wayback Machine snapshot of perimeter81.com/pricing from July 12, 2024, with the same figures in July 2023 and February 2024, showed four plans with a "Monthly / Annual (Save 20%)" toggle. The lower figure is the annual rate and the higher one the monthly rate:
Snapshots from November 2024 to May 2025 still show the +$50 gateway price and the same minimums, but the per-user prices were loaded by JavaScript and were not captured. Whether they changed after mid-2024 is unknown.

Check Point lists "Check Point SASE Private Access" on AWS Marketplace. Each package covers 100 users and one SASE gateway, and the 1-month prices are:
Those numbers look alarming next to the old $8 to $16, but they are 1-month marketplace list prices. The same listing advertises 12, 24 and 36-month contracts that "save up to 92%", without showing the price. Treat the AWS figure as a ceiling, not as what a negotiated annual deal costs, and expect the real number only after a demo.
The May 2025 snapshot of the old pricing page is the last public record of how the tiers differed. Check Point's current packages may be cut differently, so use these to frame questions for sales rather than as a contract:

The 2025 FAQ also said each user could sign in on up to 5 devices (desktop, mobile and tablet) at no extra charge, that billing was yearly or monthly with up to 20% off for yearly, and that payment was accepted by credit card, wire transfer or PayPal.
On January 14, 2026, a vulnerability in the Windows agent was published as CVE-2025-9142: "A local user can trigger Harmony SASE Windows client to write or delete files outside the intended certificate working directory." It affects Check Point Harmony SASE Windows Agent versions prior to 12.2 and scores 7.5 (High) on CVSS 3.1.
AmberWolf, who reported it, describes it as a local privilege escalation. The attack vector is local and the complexity is high, so this is not a remotely exploitable hole in the cloud service, but on shared or lightly managed Windows machines it matters. Check Point's advisory is sk184557, and the fix is to update the Windows agent to 12.2 or later.

Check the agent version on every Windows endpoint. Anything below 12.2 should be updated, and you can push it through the admin console or your device management tool.
Reviewers still rate the product well: PeerSpot shows 4.4 out of 5 from 61 reviews of Check Point Harmony SASE (formerly Perimeter 81). The strengths that made Perimeter 81 popular are intact, and the security stack around them is far larger than it was in 2023.
Buy it if you are a mid-sized or larger company that wants VPN replacement, web security and SaaS controls from one vendor and is happy to negotiate an annual contract. Look elsewhere if you are a 10 to 20 person team that picked Perimeter 81 for its card-payment simplicity: that version of the product no longer exists, and mesh tools such as Tailscale, which we reviewed separately, still sell that way.
Yes, but under another name. Check Point bought Perimeter 81 in September 2023, and perimeter81.com now redirects to sase.checkpoint.com, where the product is sold as Check Point SASE (formerly Harmony SASE).
There is no public per-user price. The only public figure is AWS Marketplace: $11,160 a month (Premium) or $14,760 a month (Complete) for 100 users and one gateway on a 1-month term, with longer terms advertised as up to 92% cheaper. The last published web prices, from mid-2024, were $8 to $16 per user per month billed annually.
Not that we could find. The site offers "Book a Demo" and "Start Now" but no trial, the old 30-day money-back guarantee disappeared in 2025, and the AWS listing states "No Refunds Available."
The last published rule was up to 5 devices per user (desktop, mobile and tablet) at no extra charge. That comes from the 2025 Perimeter 81 FAQ, so confirm it in your Check Point contract.
Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, according to a customer quote on the current homepage. Agentless ZTNA and the Enterprise Browser cover cases where you cannot install a client.
Yes, once it is on version 12.2 or later. Versions before 12.2 are affected by CVE-2025-9142, a local privilege escalation rated CVSS 7.5 High, described in Check Point advisory sk184557.
WireGuard was listed in the last published feature table in 2025. Check Point's current pages do not break out tunnel protocols, so ask sales if a specific protocol is a requirement.
