Claid.ai review: plans, what 500 or 2,000 credits buy, the September 2026 video price rise from 35 to 60 credits, the separate API, and the refund and data fine print.

Claid.ai turns plain product shots into cut-outs, lifestyle scenes, on-model fashion photos and short videos, and it sells all of it in credits. That makes the real question less 'how much is a plan' and more 'how many finished images and clips does a plan produce'.
This review converts Claid's credits into monthly output for each plan, explains the September 2026 change that nearly halved how many videos a plan buys, separates the web app from the API (they do not share credits or prices), and sets out what the Terms say about refunds and your uploads.
Claid.ai is an AI product-photo studio aimed at online sellers. You upload a packshot and it can remove the background, place the product in a generated scene (AI Photoshoot), put clothing on a generated model (AI Fashion Models), edit the image with a text prompt (AI Edit), upscale it, extend the canvas, add shadows, fix light and colour, and turn a still into a short video.
It is made by Let's Enhance, Inc., the company behind the Let's Enhance upscaler. Claid's own About page says the story started in 2017 and that the team is 25+ people in 15 countries, led by co-founders Sofi Shvets (CEO) and Vlad Pranskevicius (CTO).

There are two products under one brand: the Claid web app, sold as a monthly subscription, and the Claid API, sold as separate credit packs for developers and larger catalogues. They use different credit pools and different per-operation prices, which matters more than anything else on the pricing page.
Prices, credit costs and limits below come from claid.ai/pricing, claid.ai/api-pricing, the Claid help centre and the Terms, read on 19 October 2026. Where a figure only exists in third-party sources, it is labelled as such.
Claid sells four web tiers: Free trial, Essentials, Pro and Business. The dollar amounts are not in the pricing page's HTML because they are rendered in the browser, so the figures below come from third-party price checks made between July and October 2026 (pikes.ai, photta.app and wizcommerce). Claid's own footnote adds that prices might be subject to change.
On the Pro yearly price, the page's own billing toggle reads 'Save $120', which fits $49 dropping to $39 ($10 x 12 months). A $35 yearly rate would save $168. Check the figure in the checkout before you commit to a year.
The free trial is described two ways on the same page: '50 credits to use on any operation' and, further down, 'all the features from our Professional plan with 5 trial images'. Expect the 50-credit version, which is what the plan table itself shows.
Claid says every paid plan gets the same tools and 2K output. The differences are the credit allowance, 4K output, and on Pro and Business, batch processing, a priority queue and brand kits. If you process a catalogue rather than a handful of hero shots, batch processing is the reason to skip Essentials.
Every operation in the web app costs a fixed number of credits. Here is Claid's own table, with the maximum monthly count for Free trial, Essentials and Pro (Business is unlimited).
Those maximums assume you spend the whole allowance on one tool. A realistic month mixes them: on Essentials, 50 Standard photoshoots (200 credits), 100 background removals (100 credits) and 25 upscales at the 2-credit rate (50 credits) leave 150 credits, which is two 5-second videos.

Using the monthly prices above, an Essentials credit works out to about $0.03 and a Pro credit to about $0.0245. That makes a Standard AI Photoshoot about $0.12 on Essentials and about $0.10 on Pro, a Studio Quality shot about $0.30 and $0.25, a background removal about 3 cents and 2.5 cents, and a 5-second video about $1.80 and $1.47. Yearly billing cuts all of these by roughly 30 to 40 percent.
Claid does not publicly state whether unused web credits roll over to the next month. The only first-party line is that after you cancel, your credit balance stays usable until the end of the billing period. Plan your usage as if each month's credits are use-it-or-lose-it until Claid says otherwise.
In June 2026 Claid added sound and smoother motion to its image-to-video tool at the same price as before, 35 credits for a 5-second clip. On 7 September 2026 it shipped a larger update for fashion and UGC-style talking videos, and the price went to 60 credits per 5 seconds. Claid's help centre explains the change plainly: 'The upgraded model requires more computing resources.'

Videos are generated at 720p and you choose 5 or 10 seconds. If short product clips are the main reason you are looking at Claid, compare against the API, which still lists 35 credits for 5 seconds and 70 for 10 seconds, and against video-first tools, because 8 clips a month on Essentials will not feed a busy social calendar.
Since January 2026, AI Photoshoot and AI Fashion Models can generate at 2K on every paid plan and at 4K on Pro and Business. AI Edit outputs at default, 2K or 4K and can return up to four results at once. Upscaling lets you set exact dimensions, scale by percentage, or use 2x and 4x presets, and the resize tool has presets for Instagram, YouTube, Meta, Amazon and Shopify.

The limits table is less tidy. As listed on the pricing page:
Two things stand out. The free trial is listed with higher upload and download limits than Essentials, which is probably an error on the page but is what it says. And the help centre's overview gives a 10 MB upload cap for JPG, PNG, WEBP and HEIC files, which conflicts with the 20 MB listed for Pro. If you work with large camera files, test an upload during the trial.
History matters more than it looks: on Essentials, anything you do not download within a month is gone, so keep your own archive of final images.
Claid's API page is explicit: web subscription credits are used in the web app, API credits power the image and video API, and 'they aren't interchangeable, and one can't be spent on the other.' You can buy an API pack without a web plan, though the main pricing page also says the API key is 'available in the Claid Pro plan', another small contradiction.
Self-serve API credits are a one-time purchase. Third-party reports and a search snippet of Claid's own page put the entry pack at $59 for 1,000 credits, but that figure is not visible in the page's HTML, so treat it as indicative. Enterprise plans add volume pricing, dedicated support and SLAs.
Fewer credits does not mean cheaper. At about $0.059 per API credit, an API background removal is about $0.12, an AI background about $0.18, an AI Fashion or AI Edit image about $0.12 and a 5-second video about $2.07, all above the Pro web app at about $0.0245 per credit. The case for the API is automation and volume, not unit price, unless an enterprise plan brings the per-credit cost down.
API upscaling is priced by output size. The help centre lists 1 credit up to 4 MP, rising through 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 credits to 8 credits at 559-800 MP, while the API pricing page says '1-11' credits up to 559 MP. Other API operations include text-to-image (1 credit), auto prompting (0.5), polish, light and colour enhancement, licence-plate blur and identity crop (1 each), and generative resize (2). Resize and crop is free when combined with another operation.
Technically, the API accepts BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WEBP, AVIF and HEIC, is rate-limited to 4 requests per second and 120 per minute, and has Batch and Async endpoints. For no-code automation Claid links a Zapier integration. We found no native Shopify app: Shopify appears only as a resize preset.
Claid's API page says it is GDPR and CCPA compliant, encrypts data at rest and in transit, and will 'never use customer data for model training', with SOC 2 'in progress'. The Terms (effective 10 August 2023) say Claid claims no ownership of your content, but you grant it an 'irrevocable, perpetual, transferable, sublicensable' licence to use, copy, store and modify it to run the service and, 'solely in de-identified form, to improve our products and services'.
Those two statements can both be true, but the Terms give Claid more room than the marketing line suggests, and the Privacy Policy (effective 21 May 2024) does not mention model training at all. On the plus side, the Privacy Policy says you can recover, modify or delete your data from your account at any time. If you upload unreleased products, delete them after you download the results.
The Terms also forbid using Claid for AI research and development, including generating training data. On ownership of outputs, Claid's pricing FAQ says images generated with Claid 'are not subject to copyright', which is worth knowing if you hoped to stop competitors reusing a generated scene.
The Terms say Claid has 'no obligation to provide a refund of any amounts previously paid', except a pro-rata refund of unused funds if Claid itself ends a paid account early. The help centre's refund policy (updated September 2026) is softer: a full refund within 24 hours of purchase, and refunds only for the open billing period, meaning your most recent charge. On a yearly plan, that 24-hour window is the one to remember.
You cancel through the Stripe billing portal. The subscription stops renewing and your access and credit balance stay available until the end of the current billing period. Disputes go to binding arbitration under American Arbitration Association rules in Los Angeles County, under California law.
There is not much public feedback. On 19 October 2026 Claid had a 4.1 TrustScore on Trustpilot from just 18 reviews, 94% of them five stars and 6% one star, and G2 showed a single review. Praise tends to be about support: one reviewer who picked the wrong plan wrote that 'the guys at Claid swapped it for the correct one'. The one-star review says the opposite of the marketing: 'The tool's outcomes always look ridiculous and super unnatural.'
A sample that small cannot settle quality either way. Generated scenes and models vary a lot by product type, so spend the trial credits on your own hardest products, such as reflective packaging, fine jewellery or patterned fabric, rather than the easy ones.
Claid.ai is a sensible pick for a small or mid-sized store that needs a steady flow of clean cut-outs, generated lifestyle scenes and on-model shots, and wants them in one tool. At about 10 to 12 cents per Standard photoshoot, the maths is easy to justify against a studio day. Pro is the plan most catalogues will actually need, for batch processing, 4K and 2,000 credits.

It is a weaker pick if video is the priority, since the September 2026 price rise leaves Essentials with 8 clips a month, or if you need firm commitments on refunds and data use, where the Terms are stricter than the help centre and the marketing. Developers should price the API separately: it is a different credit pool with different costs, and not always cheaper per image.
If Claid does not fit, the closest alternatives are Photoroom for mobile-first background work, Pebblely, Flair AI and Mokker for generated product scenes, and dedicated upscalers such as VanceAI or Upscale.media.
About $15 a month for Essentials (500 credits) and $49 a month for Pro (2,000 credits) when billed monthly, according to third-party price checks from July to October 2026. Yearly billing is about $9 for Essentials and $35 to $39 for Pro; Business is custom.
Yes. The trial gives 50 web credits for any Standard tool plus 50 API credits. That covers about 12 Standard photoshoots or 50 background removals, but not a video, which now costs 60 credits.
No. Claid states that web and API credits are not interchangeable. The API is bought separately, reportedly from $59 for 1,000 one-time credits, and the same operation costs a different number of credits in each.
Claid does not say publicly. The only documented rule is that after cancelling, your remaining balance is usable until the end of the billing period, so assume monthly credits do not carry over.
Usually only within 24 hours of purchase, for a full refund. The help centre limits refunds to the current billing period, and the Terms say Claid has no obligation to refund at all, so ask quickly if you buy the wrong plan.
Claid says it never uses customer data for model training. Its Terms still grant it a perpetual, sublicensable licence over uploads, including de-identified use to improve its products, so delete sensitive images from your account when you are done.
60 web credits for a 5-second 720p clip since September 2026, up from 35. Via the API it is still 35 credits for 5 seconds and 70 for 10 seconds.
Not natively, as far as we found. Claid has Shopify and Amazon resize presets and a Zapier integration, and the API can be wired into a store's own pipeline.
