Looka review: designing logos is free, but downloads cost $20 or $65 and the Brand Kit is $96 a year. What each tier includes, the copyright fine print and refunds.

Looka is an AI logo maker that lets you design, edit and save as many logos as you like for free. The bill arrives only when you want to download and use one, and that is where the real decision sits: a $20 Basic file, a $65 Premium package, or a $96-a-year Brand Kit subscription that adds hundreds of branded templates.
This review walks through what each tier actually delivers, the fine print most buyers miss - above all, that your logo is not exclusive at the icon and font level - and which option makes sense for which kind of small business. All prices are in USD and come from Looka's own pricing page and help centre; confirm the final figure at checkout, since Looka may show local currency.
Looka started life as Logojoy, launched in November 2016 by founder and CEO Dawson Whitfield, and took its current name in 2019. The company is based in Toronto, Canada.
Scale is not the issue here. Looka says it has served more than 20 million people in 188 countries and generated over 10 billion logos, and its pricing page pitches itself as trusted by over 20 million small business owners. On Trustpilot it sat at roughly 4.4 out of 5 from more than 14,000 reviews in October 2026.
The product has grown beyond logos. Alongside the Logo Maker and AI Logo Generator, Looka sells a Brand Kit, a Social Media Kit, business cards, a business name generator, and a simple website builder, with domains and custom email offered through the same account.

Looka's flow is short and genuinely beginner-friendly. Looka itself says the setup takes about two minutes.
It is worth being clear about what the AI does. Looka assembles designs from the icons, fonts and layouts in its own library, guided by your choices. That makes results fast and polished, but it is also the reason the ownership terms read the way they do - more on that below.

Designing is free. You pay for one of two one-time logo packages, or for an annual subscription that bundles the logo with branded templates.
Looka also offers a monthly Brand Kit, but only as an add-on bought together with a logo package, and it gives Brand Kit access without extra logo files. Looka does not publish a monthly price; the $8 a month figure you may see online is simply $96 divided by 12.
Custom domains are charged on top of the website plans, and Looka only prompts you to buy a website package when you click Publish.

The Brand Kit takes your logo, colours and fonts and generates 300+ ready-to-use templates around them. Template types include social posts, social covers and stories, business cards, email signatures, letterheads, invoices, ads, posters, flyers, presentations, proposals, newsletters, brochures and a brand guidelines document.
On the social side alone, Looka lists 20 versions of the logo sized for profile pictures, 55+ social covers, 50+ social post templates and 10 story templates. Everything is delivered as digital files to download - Looka does not ship printouts.

The subscription renews every year from the purchase date. Upgrading between plans is billed as the prorated difference, while downgrading becomes credit on the next cycle. If you cancel, access runs to the end of the paid year, then the templates go away - but you keep the rights to your logo and can still edit it.
Brand Kit Web adds a website built from your brand: drag-and-drop editing, hosting, SEO tools, unlimited storage and bandwidth, and mobile-friendly layouts. The $299 Ecommerce tier adds selling for up to 100 products, 40+ payment methods and selling on Google, Facebook and Instagram. It suits a first simple site; a growing store will outgrow a 100-product cap.

Looka grants full ownership of the logo you buy, but its help centre is explicit that the copyright applies to the logo as a whole, not to its individual elements. Icons and fonts come from a shared database and are not removed after you buy, so another customer can end up with the same symbol or typeface. Looka's terms add that symbols may come from The Noun Project and that you use them at your own risk.
Looka does not give legal advice on logos. If you want to register a trademark, that is a separate legal process with an outside attorney or your country's trademark office - and a design built from a shared icon may be harder to protect than a fully custom one.
Looka does not refund a logo once it has been downloaded or emailed to you. If you have not downloaded anything and you are within 7 days of purchase, support can issue a refund, which takes 3 to 14 business days. Cancelling a subscription does not trigger an automatic refund.
Looka's terms state that a subscription bought at a discount can renew automatically at the full fee without further notice. If you take a promo price on the Brand Kit, put the renewal date in your calendar.
Skip Basic unless you only need a temporary profile picture or want to test a name. It is the cheapest way to get a file, not the cheapest way to get a usable logo.
Buy Premium if you need a solid logo for a new business, side project or freelance practice and are happy to build your own social graphics in a separate tool. For most readers this is the right answer.
Choose the Brand Kit if you will genuinely use the templates in the first year - business cards, invoices, email signatures and a steady stream of social posts. At $96 it costs about $31 more than Premium and includes the vector files, so the templates are the deciding factor.
Consider Brand Kit Web only if you want a basic site live quickly and have no website yet. Anyone who needs a unique, trademarkable mark should hire a designer instead - Looka's shared-library model is a poor fit for that goal.
Designing is free, downloading is not. You can create, edit, preview and save unlimited logos at no cost, but you must buy a package or Brand Kit to download and use one.
Logo packages are $20 (Basic) or $65 (Premium) one-time. The Brand Kit is $96 a year, Brand Kit Web $129 a year and the Ecommerce website tier $299 a year, all in USD and billed annually.
Yes for the logo as a whole, no for its parts. Looka grants full ownership of the finished logo, but icons and fonts remain in its database and other customers can use them.
Only if you have not downloaded anything and are within 7 days of purchase. Once files are downloaded or emailed, Looka does not refund the logo.
You keep the logo rights and can still edit it. Access to the Brand Kit templates continues until the end of the paid year and then stops; there is no automatic refund.
Yes, except for the company name. Looka lets you edit colours, icons and layout and re-download, but the name text and its layout are locked after purchase.
Looka does not advise on trademarks, so you would handle it with an attorney or your trademark office. Because icons are shared with other customers, a distinctive custom mark is usually easier to register.
